Yeah, I've been playing for about 2-3 years now. I noticed that the beginner areas were generally empty now that mostly everyone are in high levels. So you probably won't find a group to do missions and quests with.
But other than that this game is definitely worth a try.

Champions Online

While I've somewhat new to the game, I'll try to give you some honest answers.
Population seems very good at low to mid levels. Always can get a team either by asking in zone chat or even waiting near a mission entrance.
I don't know about the game v. C-Store. I think the C-store is just costume parts and ...maybe extra character slots? but you get 7 already.

Not sure re: STO. One community relations person actually was just transferred from CO to STO. I feel like the devs are active though. You will see responses in the forums and fixes seem fast comapred to some games.

I have been trying to figure out were this quest line starts and at what lvl. I have been told that it starts at lvl 54 and that the quest giver is at the Great Barrier savage lands side. well i had my higher lvl friend check it out and he said that none of the npcs there gave him a quest. Are there prerequisites for this quest line???
I then checked out getbuffed.com and for what i could figure out with the limited info is that it might actually start in the Green Tower by one of those npcs. I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on the situation

This is NOT the "same way every MMO has done it..." (At least in the EU where I live)
In most ways this is "better" than what most have done. (Just think: Starting out in WoW: You need to buy at least "Battlechest - WoW+BC+30 days gametime" AND the "Wrath of the Lich King" expansion.
LoTRO's Mines of Moria did not include the original game + 30 days gametime at release either so this "same way every MMO has done it" simply does not add up.
Funcom's expansion (retail version) comes with the full game+30 days gametime at a very nice price for new players. Only problem here is that (besides a new 20-40 playfield) the expansion is gamewise aimed at maxlevel current subs.
My point is: If funcom felt their expansion was worth €20 they should sell the product (the expansion) to existing subs and resubs at €20. Add a "package deal" for newcomers at (example) €30 with full game + expansion + 30 days gametime: Everybody would feel they got something of value at a reduced price and Funcom would not have a bunch of forumposts with "confused about the free gametime with the expansion" or even threads like this.
I am not a marketing person so I may be completely wrong, but as a consumer I find that (today) the only really consistant "fail" in Funcom is their marketing/pr department.
An example... My oldest kid (late teens) told me he logged in to his AoC trial account page and he was offered to buy the full game at €9.99. The offer was expanded though, because if he signed up for a 6 month sub instead, he would get the full game and an XP hat for free, worth €19.99? His question: "Are these hats really worth €10?"
Sorry: Sad and incoherent marketing... At this point I am not even blaming them. It just looks like a mix of incompetence and lack of ressources.

Thriving community? HA! More like a grape dying on the vine. UO's community consists of mostly gold farmers and speed hackers. The game is OVERRUN with bugs, exploits, hacks, and is basically falling apart. Starting a new charatcer is practially impossible considering the outrageous costs of everything, which sends most, if not all, new players into the clutches of gold farmers. The economy is shot, completely.
EA has done nothing to fix any of the problems the game has been suffering from since AOS and things continue to degrade. As for the "new race", gargolyes are over powered and currently dominate EVERYTHING. Playing as anything else is pointless. Artifacts still dominate every aspect of the game. Play a garg in full arti suit and youre practially in god mode.
Skill are STILL dependent on power scrolls. Unless youre 120.0% in a skill, its worthless. GM still means nothing. Crafting is uttlery pointless, even with Imbuning, because artifacts are still king. Not to mention many of the skills that were completely gimped when AOS came out are still broken and useless.

All the other servers had closed down and when they did the transfer they prioritized the characters from active servers. But they have said that characters from dead servers will be tranfered too and that will happen before the end of the free time.

Im not a fanboy by any means but i am a paying customer .With 8+ years playing everquest it does have its problems .Right now its bigest problem is devs who do not play the game.Listening only to certian class resps an raid leaders over the years had hurt eq more than any bug in game an their are some .
An yes every game has good an bad.We will see if they increase container size.If certian classes get a dps increase as promised.Odds are tho same class rep an raid leaders who had ear of the other devs will work their beta magic again.Swear some just dont look at the game over all . The game is a lot of fun, very deep and has a good community so dont strees to hard on trying to roll the least common or most valued class you wont be left out to dry at least not from what I remimber (been 6m or so since I played )

Making money by ratting is all about speed and DPS. The faster you can kill the BS's with the biggest bounties, the faster you make money. Unless you have someone running around behind you cleaning up, it's completely not worth it.
As soon as you can take a 500k bounty rat out in <10sec, then you can make some real money ratting.
Chaining is one of the few things I like about EVE PVE. When you get a good flow going, it's just so nice to see that money rolling in constantly and smoothly.

LotRO is pretty good if you like quests/story/pve, but to be honest its sorta short and lacking endgame content.
I went through it all in 2 months time, ended up raiding and running all the raids and dungeons and getting all my factions maxed with rep and being geared out better than most people who been playing the game for 2yrs.
With the free to play coming instead of the next expansion that makes it a tough call if you're like me.
I went ahead and froze my account and may check it out again once its f2p or the next expansion comes.
The game really has not done enough with the player housing/neighborhoods in my opinion, it has some nice towns and the player music is really fun sometime but it wears off.

There will still be a very healthy population in FFXI for some time. I personally know quite a few players right now that only have access to dial-up internet still, and FFXI supports that very well. These newer MMOs require a broadband connection to play them...such as FFXIV.
Second, with the delay of FFXIV on the PS3 until March 2011 at the earliest, that puts a huge delay on the masses of Japanese players getting in and playing, thus they'll prolly stick with FFXI for awhile yet. To my knowledge, most Japanese players are dependant on their Playstations for gaming as oppossed to a huge high-end desktop PC. Last I heard like 70-80% of the Japanese population in FFXI were on their PS2.

1) how is the character creation in game?
2) PvP. is it open or level based? I'm not much of a pvp player, but do enjoy it on occasion if its not forced.
3) PVE. enough things to do so you don't run out at certain levels?

5) Community. good or bad?

As I said, there is no need and no fun to play many obsoleted dungeons anymore. If you have a lv20 Hero guildie, he can run ALL quest on ELITE to earn favor point or to be flagged for certain thing.
It is easy for lv20 to solo the entire Valut of Night 1-4 quest on elite without a single heal. It won't take more than 1 hour to finish it. The game has been relesed for quite a long time so who will going to play step by step and do the options. Most people just want to run through the quest. The adventure pack just become a tool to earn favor point. Actually, if someone already have enough favor point to create 32 point character, all he needs is XP to lv20.
The game merchanics is aging now, however, it is still fun to play if you've got a group for the quest you need. Otherwise, it would be a mmo solo game. The only way to keep DDO shining all time is make this game more free to play or reduce the adventure pack. Except you want to pay a hundred dollars to buy some adventure pack to solo.

Problem why some People Dislike Aion, ..
Grind - it's almost as grindy as Lineage 2 or any F2p games out there. if killing a mob till your eyes bleed is your thing then more power to you. quests is just another way of telling you to go out and kill "x" amount of mobs.
Gank - "Rifting", twinks, .. nothing is more fun than rolling over some ones face who has no chance to hit you.
Crafting - this is how Aion crafting works.. acquire expensive mats to create "gold weapon" , . with unknown % of luck you will proc and get that gold weapon, or not and you just get the crappy version. either way it's one expensive slot machine.
Cost - everything is a Kinah sink.. why kinah sellers never runs out of business. the game forces you to buy sh*t.

REALID is a system that is meant to be used by REAL FRIENDS, All Blizzard games will have two different kinds of friends list you can add people to;
A regular list - can only see their gamer tag.
A REALID list - can see the players real name and what game they are playing - you can also message across games.
READID is for REAL friends not for some random guy you meet in goldshire, if you don't want this guy to know your name or bother you while playing other games but he sounds like a fun chap add him as a regular friend.
